Hello and welcome to Jane Doe Writes!
Hello and welcome to Jane Doe Writes! My name’s Sophie (not Jane); and I’m a freelance writer, blogger and mature student of French and creative writing based in North Yorkshire, England.
The name for this blog came to me earlier this year when I was thinking about my passion for fiction writing and the fact that nobody knew I existed; in other words, I was an unidentified writer buried deep under the leaves.
As I continue to search for an identity in this tough, magical world; this blog will both document the important lessons I learn along the way and include original research into topics such as:
—Elements of craft.
—Prompts and exercises.
—Tips and tricks.
— Reflections on writing life (and how to stay sane and healthy in spite of it!)
—And much more!
There are many excellent (and rather efficient looking) blogs about marketing and getting your work out there.
While I may touch upon this here or there, here at janedoewrites.com it’s all about the process. It’s about coming here at the end of a hard day, sitting on a virtual beanbag with a virtual cup of tea; learning and enjoying the journey together.
Through honing our craft, sleepless nights (and occasional sacrifices to Seshat the Ancient Egyptian goddess of writing:D) I know we will one day lose our luggage tags as unknown fiction writers forever.
I hope you enjoy and benefit from this space; and please engage! We’re all here to support each other and I’d love to hear about YOUR story,
